More on Sunday's ACC Hoops Kickoff Luncheon at the downtown Atlanta Mariott Marquis. Interesting opportunity to sit at a roundtable with all 12 ACC coaches and selected players from each team and hear what they have to say about their teams this upcoming season. The coaches came in one at a time the players from each team came in separately. Duke only brought Gerald Henderson, everyone else had 2. The media that attended as well as some of the coaches commented that there was significantly less media at this year's event. The reasons pointed out were that it was in Atlanta when it usually is in North Carolina and also the economy. The media was broken up into radio/TV/print media. There was only 10 radio people there so it gave everyone a chance to ask a lot of questions to the coaches and players. The coaches went first and surprisingly after they finished up 7 of the radio stations left so there was just 3 of us left to ask the players questions. The coaches all spoke 10-15 minutes, the players around 7-8. Long day but a lot of fun, look forward to covering ACC hoops for the radio show as well as the website this year. Besides our Tech guys the most personable player: Gerald Henderson from Duke and the Carolina guys Danny Green and Wayne Ellington were topnotch also.
