If he gets that line up I am willing to give Hewitt a pass this year, and wait to see what he can do two years from now.  If he doesn't land a steller class this year is a make or break year for my view!

Any thoughts?

GB2 et al, if CPH lands the 6 that GB mentioned above, what is the least that you expect out of that team performance wise in 2009?  I am thinking top 4 in ACC play and a Sweet 16 appearance otherwise it might be time to look in another direction.  Thoughts?

Are you being facetious GB?  In looking at the roster makeup in 2009 (assuming the 6 players sign with us), we will have potential NBA early departures in Miller, Iman, Favors, Boyton and Johnson in possibly 2009 and 2010.  Imo, it will be hard for CPH to be successful given these early departures.  For me realistically, dance appearances in 2009 and 2010 is probably the best we can expect.  And then it will be up to CPH to reload after that.  Again the key is in 2009 with Favors and everyone else here, we need a top 4 ACC finish and also at least Sweet 16 appearance.

Now I do agree with you Nodude, 4th in ACC, sweet 16, and beating UGA would give him an extra year in my book.

TH, I'm thinking that no matter what then this will be a make or break year for PH.  He has been given plenty of talent to work with and besides that one Final Four run, he has fallen terribly short.  It's do or die for PH this year, in my opinion.

Have seen Glenn Rice, Jr. play in person 5 times.

Here's the scouting report:

Good:  Good leaper, very good passer, plays bigger than 6'4" with long arms, great instincts, good rotation and range on jump shot

Bad:  More a scorer than shooter so question is whether that will translate in the college game.  Doesn't go straight up on his jump shot but leans forward, this will have to be corrected if he is to be a topnotch wing player at Tech.  The question is why did he develop such a bad habit?   Exhibits questionable attitude on the floor and often looks disinterested on defense.

Summary:  Player with good upside, particularly his passing skills but will need a lot of coaching to become a highly productive player at the college level.  Will he get it at Tech?

alagold, he averaged like 25.9 ppg last year, 5 apg, 6 rpg.  Don't know his shooting percentages but I'd guess he's around 50% from the floor but not great from 3-point.  Probably low 30s from 3-point.  Decent free throw shooter my guess is around 75%.

I'll see him 2-3 times this year at least maybe more and let you know how he has progressed.  Like I said in another thread the guy who really impressed me was Lorenzo Brown, wish we could get him.  I've seen Ralph Sampson, Jr. JJ Hickson, Rice, Gani Lawal, James Florence and a couple other topnotch players in high school the past 4 years but the best one by far is Lorenzo Brown.

No chance at all on Lo Brown. Literally none. Grades. It's too bad to, he's a tremendous player and he would be interested in GT.

He's going to NCSU, you can almost bank on that.

Actually - take that back, Lo Brown committed to NCSU today. That's been basically done for quite some time, guess he finally made it public.

BTW, Glen Rice when to UM, not MSU.

As for the dad, when I read the "more scorer than shooter" comment about the son, that is EXACTLY what folks said about the father...

They still have to be coached. We have had talent before but only one exceptional year.

Yep! My guess though would be Miller 4 years, Shumpert 3 years(heard he excited everybody friday), Lawal 3/4 years, Favors 1 and done, Rice 4 years, Oliver 4 years, Udofia 4 years.
