Well we are holding our own early but it looks like a matter of time before the Foul Trouble and Dukes Runs catch us.  By the way Favors 3rd Foul looked like bunk to me.

2 of the fouls on Favors and 1 of the ones on Lawal were total crap, typical game against Duke, the refs have already gotten both of The Jackets big men off the floor.

The refs completely took Tech out of their game less than a minute into it.

Tech is not going to win a free throw shooting contest with Duke or anyone else. They called every little touch tonight from the get-go.

F**king pathetic.

The officiating looked pretty balanced to me. Lawal was just too pumped and over aggressive at the get-go. Favors looked like a lost rookie. Hewitt took a team to duke with  top five talent and got beat by a good coach with slow not very athletic bunch of boys that can't jump but can shoot. How many WO 3's for Duke? GT should have had a sweep this year.

It was called the same both ways, but Tech's strength is a physical inside game and it was completely taken away by the officials. But they called little bs touch fouls that aren't called in many other games.

All of that plays directly to Duke's strength and away from Tech's. Lawal and Favors were non-factors.  As a result, the guards had to drop inside and left Duke wide open on the perimeter.  To their credit, they hit the open shots.

I can't fault Hewitt for a lot of what happened tonight, but I will put the pi$$ poor free throw shooting on his shoulders.  His teams have never been able to shoot free throws and on nights like tonight, they were taken out of the game as a result.

As far as the amount of fouls called on both teams it was pretty much even looking but its who they call those fouls on that makes a huge difference. The fouls on the GT big men early in the game were very touchy and without them on the court GT has no chance against any ACC team especially not one like Duke. I have been watching ACC basketball all my life and I have always seen Coach K get what he wants from the refs.

while I do agree we have a talented team by no means is this a top 5 talent team this year, we are still missing a pure point guard (when we had our NCAA final team it was our guards that got us there, Hewitt's biggest flaw is not getting top point guards, having 5or6  athletic fowards running the court ( which is what he likes ) will never get us to where we need to be, ACC basketball has allways been a point guard league and now everyone else knows this too, dont get me wrong I do like Udofia and think he will be a good one for us hes just not there yet, and Shup is a better 2 guard, but I also think last night was one of the wost games I have ever seen, 52 fouls????  come on I think the refs decided to be the stars last night, while it was even alot of them were very tic-tac. you have to let the guys play..............JMO

He learn that from Bob Knight and Dean Smith, two masters of the game who both work the refs in different ways to their advantage. They also teach the players that as well.

I think this is what hurts the ACC when it comes to tournament time. Officiating in the ACC is so bad--so ticky-tac--that our players are not prepared for the tournament. This BS happens EVERY year, and it is usually Duke and UNC that get the calls when they need them. Extremely irritating and frustrating to watch. I felt just like GR Jr during the game, I just wanted to grab someone and push them down. I would have chosen someone wearing stripes though.

I don't disagree at all. We were out-coached, out-played, and it was embarrassing to watch. I'm beginning to believe that with PH we have a ceiling of about half way up the ACC no matter who he recruits to play for us. I just hope that this is a step backwards that will take us two steps forward. We should absolutely crush NCSU today. Let's see.

The refs still sucked. Where I was watching the game the announcers were talking in Spanish, so I didn't get any commentary that I could understand. Were there any comments about the free throw where they showed a closeup of a Duke player clearly grabbing Favors's jersey and pulling him? That is Coach K coaching. Dirty, rough, and frustrate the other team into dumb fouls. Our guys fell for it. That's PH's fault in my opinion.

Well I saw, live and in person: we are not good. The Thriller Dome is pathetic. The fans are giving up on Hewitt. If this year ends like I think it will--lose round 1 of ACC, lose round 1 of NCAA (if we get there)--he must go. The cost of keeping him is bigger than the cost of paying him to leave. Thanks Dave Braine you Tarheel SOB.
