This has been the strangest spring practice. There has been virtually nothing posted on the Hive or anywhere. You would think Tech was holding its spring practice in the old Soviet Union. The chart does show some interesting. Barnes is behind Bowen at LB. That makes me wonder if there are still some issues with Barnes getting on the playing field. He may be the best raw talent on defense. Also, Thomas is behind Greg Smith. A lot of people on this board are counting on Thomas to be the next Calvin Johnson. Also, I like Tenuta but Johnson is better than Oliver and Robertson combined. I really could care less if he doesn't drop back in coverage as well as Oliver on zone blitzes. He's the one player who can generate a serious pass rush.

How do you gentlemen RECONCILE what is on this updated depth chart vs. your comments based on "PRACTICE REPORTS"? How can CB end up #5 on the depth chart, when it was reported that he is CLEARLY playing better than JG ever did? Has the QB position under CCG become like the QB position at USC-w or at Louisville, or LSU? I doubt it! How does ST "maintain" his #2 slot despite all the PRACTICE REPORTS that clearly said that the "light hadn't come on" yet? I think CCG has found another OC that refuses to demand CJT-type control over his side of the ball; that QB depth chart has CCG's chicken-shyt fingerprints all over it! Explanations please; after all, based on you guys that actually ATTEND PRACTICE, and based on what has been written, there is seemingly no way that anyone can justify that QB depth chart! Do you guys still think JG had sour grapes? Last edited on Sat Mar 17th, 2007 05:25 pm by WrecksNEffect |

Techie, When I last saw Barnes he was looked big as a BARN -about 250. maybe carrying too much--- or you may be right,I've always doubted his academics and thus staying power on the team. I would not doubt that a true FR next yr will make a run at CB.This looks an achilles heel.

Barnes may be All-World for us, who knows? What I resent tho is you have a kid like Garner who comes in here, takes care of business in the classroom, is at practice every day, plays with disk problems in his back, and Gailey runs him off. All the time Garner was working his ass off in the classroom and on the practice field and playing with an injury Barnes was laying up somewhere. Maybe Garner should've laid on his ass for a couple years lifting weights and hanging around the dining hall all day too. It appears if he had done that he'd be further ahead right now. What the hell kind of a message does that send ?

This is the funniest post of the weekend. Thanks for the laugh Beebad. This is not an updated list. Tony Clark is now practicing as a LB so its pretty clear this is not updated. Also its clear to see Booker is number 2 based on the snaps taken in practice. If you want info then go to a practice.

You do realize that was uploaded before spring practice even started, right?

If it was out there before spring practice, how is Threet ahead of Booker and especially Ingram? A QB who fresh out of high school is #2 ahead of one guy with a full season with a team (Ingram) and another guy who has collegiate experience (Booker). It looks the "competition" for QB under Tech is as rigged as pro wrestling.

bbuzz, you always harp about how you want to talk with facts. Well the fact is Barnes was in school while sitting out the football season. That doesn't remotely equal "laying up somewhere" or so forth.

Duh He was laying up by the cafeteria and hanging around the weight room most of the time. This kid is all-world eating and curls for girls. The fact of the matter is that Barnes hasn't done a damn thing yet and he's listed 2nd on the depth chart. Garner works his ass off and plays hurt but Gailey doesn't respect that. Threet hadn't even taken one snap in an actual practice and he's listed as 2nd on the depth chart. Chan Gailey continues to be a joke.

How accurate do you think the ramblinwreck.com depth chart is? Let me give you some help: not very. Do you look at the roster weights they list any years? They're notoriously way off on many, many players. The depth chart is the same in its accuracy and knowledge. Who really gives a damn? Gailey will screw up any QB that comes to Tech. I have as much faith in Gailey as I do my dog to coach a QB. Why worry about who is no 1, no 2 etc. We all know Gailey's rep just look at Dallas and Troy A. Gailey is a toilet and should be flushed!

FarragutGT wrote: I can't decide which is dumber: citing an old depth chart as evidence that someone is still the number two player at his position or attacking a player for not playing when he wasn't allowed to. The player wasn't allowed to play because he didn't do what he was supposed to do. There's no date on that depth chart, nothing to indicate it is old. A lot of us have caught on to Gailey's shills who put out bogs information regarding practices. There's no credibility there anymore. Who has proof that depth chart is old? The leeches that hang around practice kissinig Gailey's ass? Too many lies surrounding Gailey and his buddies. People are tired of it. Got anything else idiotic to say, Farragut? Stupidity just rolls off your keyboard.

Faragut is what Hans and Franz call a girly man. He's a hit and run poster. You counter him with facts and he goes runs and hides under his kitchen table and then pops up again a couple of weeks later. I know Faragut doesn't have the cahonies to respond but I'm wandering if people like LFO, Dabiz and Geebee. If this depth chart was before spring practice, why is Threet #2? He's fresh out high school. Manley has played in an actual game. Ingram was on the team last year. Booker has 2 years of college experience. Yet, all 3 are behind Threet. Can you explain this inconsistency? (crickets chirping)

What you wrote above is just not the way that 118 out of 119 D1-A teams do things when it come to the depth chart; the only school that pulls that crap you wrote above is GT with CCG in charge! First of all, there are no DRILLS before Spring Practice, the NCAA only allows off season conditioning, there is no other school in all of D1-A that ANNOINTS an early enrollee T-Fr. as the #2 QB, based on OFF SEASON CONDITIONING; hell even Peyton had to work his way up from #5, thanks in part to untimely/timely injuries, and his performance in summer camp. Based on your, idiotic, "nothin against him theory"; shouldn't all T-Fr. start out as #2 on the depth charts, and not just ST? Thought So! You still haven't answered the CRITICAL QUESTION: What's so SPECIAL about HIM (ST), that CCG would want HIM, to compete for the starting JOB vs. every other QB on the roster? Shouldn't CCG want ALL HIS SCHOLARSHIP QBs to compete for the JOB, so that the BEST MAN WINS, vs. CCG's "CHOSEN MAN" winning out? That post above sure makes YOU AND CHAN look very SILLY!

dabiz wrote: You know nothing then...the QB's participate in individual drills...ST was throwing to Calvin go ask him about it hell ask any of the QB's... Bilbo always looked great "throwing to Calvin" too. Suggs looked like Peyton Manning in offseason drills. Throwing the football in skeleteon drills doesn't mean anything. The fact that Threet was placed at #2 on the depth chart 'cause he could throw a few nice balls during the offseason is absolutely ridiculous. Gailey likes to play favorites. He looks at the players he has and annoints the ones he wants with grape leaves and olive oil and jettisons the ones who don't dance to his music. Look at the production we've gotten out of the QB position since Gailey has been here. It speaks for itself. The man is incompetent.
