Is it okay if people wear whatever we want as long as they bring a bottle of white-out?

Honestly, I don't care what color shirt YOU wear as long as you wear a shirt.

Its going to be hard to do with the temp in the 30's.  I'm going to go to walmart at lunch today and checkout the sweat shirts though.

How is it hard to wear white? How is it any harder to wear white when it's cold versus warm? I don't understand that at all. For those of you who say we're not getting respect, this is one time when you can put your damn money where your mouth is. If you want to show the nation that we are legit fans, show up in white. White out the stadium! Show the seniors we support them! Show the team we're behind them!

There just isn't much cold weather gear that is white...I don't even know if a sweat shirt will be warm enough.

That's true.  It's easy enough to dress in layers with a white, outer layer.  You can buy an all white hooded sweatshirt for $15.  Or you can buy a white GT sweatshirt for $25ish...dress in layers.

The big problem to me is that everyone complains that we aren't getting respect as a program and our fans won't even participate when our AD decides to do something like this.  We have a real opportunity to show our coaches, our players, our AD, the national media, etc that we have a real fan base who will support our team.

which is dumb as hell!  A white out for a game that's going to be cold as balls.  Its just not smart to expect everybody to go out and pay $ for a white something just for this game...yes, it would be great if everybody did, but that just ain't how it is...a lot of people simply don't care to drop $25 or even the time to go buy something white for what amount to nothing more than a gimmick...and white?!  Come on!  Any other color and I could use the game as an excuse to buy another jacket or something, but not white, no sir.

I want respect for our program based off of our record, not from the ability of 50,000 GT fans to coordinate their game wardrobe together.

If it were a golden oldie....I've got a nice warm down filled tan waistcoat...perfect......

If it were black (yeah, I know) I've got a nice warm leather flight jacket....or I could wear my wool full length overcoat.....

If it were blue, I could wear my navy fleece.....

But white..??.......did anybody ask the question..??.....obviously not....

Whoever came up with this gimmick didn't think it through and made it almost impossible to have a successful
promotion....what we'll probably wind up with is a very diluted home color showing, and as much green/orange as our own colors.....which is pretty normal anyway since the Tech fanbase doesn't seem to know how to dress out for a game....

I agree with Helluva, not well thought out on Drad's part.  I, myself, would figure out some way to wear white if I was going to the game, but alas I'm too far out of town for a Thurs night.  I'll be sitting in my livingroom, in a white T, watching the game.:D

ps. My wife can't stand it when I yell and cuss at the tv.  She just doesn't get it.  (No brothers growing up/dad not a sports fan.)

Penn State has a white out just about every home game and it gets pretty cold up there. Just saying.

Well, if I was a Penn St. fan I'd probably have plenty of white since that is their #1 color.  I'd have the warmest damn white jacket there ever was.  A Penn St. fan without white would be like a GT fan without some variation of yellow/gold in their closet.  Of course, a gold out doesn't really work either.  Anything other than a Blue-out for cold weather is going to fail (yes I know, blue isn't our official color).

Bottom line:  White clothes and a low of 28 degrees doesn't work.

I could just wear my warmest jacket and throw a white sheet over me, but.....nah...:P

I am also going to wal mart tonight to buy a white sweatshirt for me and the wife.

I am not a fan of being cold, so I'll be dressing in lots of layers.  I'll probably look like Randy from A Christmas Story.

8,000 unsold tickets? WTF? Yea, it'd be nice to have all the fans wearing white, but more to the point, we can't even fill up the damn stadium. Sad...

Does my white Final 4 sweatshirt from Denver and The Lethal Weapon 3 count?

I'm wearing white but technically I'm not supposed to if I marry again :P.   I have been obsessing over my outfit for the last week.  The weather is not cooperating in the least bit.  Lots of layers is NOT flattering to a full-figured gal like myself.  I bought a whiteout t-shirt and planned on wearing a white turtleneck underneath but that plan is out as I would be too cold.  Yada, yada, yada.  My latest plan is to drink heavily and not worry about catching my death in the cold.

YOU HAD TO ASK!!

Do what I did.  White turtle neck, white long sleeved GT t-shirt, white warm up jacket that I bought at Wal Mart for just for the game.  I will also be drinking heavily because this team makes me nervous and it helps.

I plan on staying warm yet still wear white without having to buy a new wardrobe. I will be wearing my warm black wool jacket. However, I went to Walmart and bought a 2 pack of XXXL white t-shirts for $5.88 (I wear a medium). I am just pulling the t-shirt on over my jacket and I am good to go. It fits pretty well over my thick winter jacket, and will look white from the field. If you don't want to buy white cold weather gear, then try doing this instead.

My biggest problem with the "white out" is that it is a direct copy of UGA's "black out" making us as gay as they were. It was all everyone talked about "black out", "gonna be a black out", "we are gonna black out Alabama", etc. Now we go and "one up" with a white out. It is just a little goofy. I think the fans and the players would be more energized with a throwback uniform like the Black Watch uniforms for the defense or even the blue jerseys (although I do hope to see the white throwbacks tomorrow night). I can't imagine what I will have to buy and then give to the salvation army (a white sweatshirt is just red).
